October Favorite Things
It’s October, one of my most favorite months out of the year. Cooler weather, pumpkin spice lattes, and Halloween. Check out this post for everything else I am favoriting this month to get me in the spirit of the fall season!
Location: Low-key Pumpkin Patch
The name of this spot Y Worry Farms describes the vibe perfectly! Out of all the pumpkin patches I visited this year this one was the easiest to get to (about 20 min outside of Capital Hill) and it didn’t require a reservation in advance. No fuss! Mind you there are no extra frills, but if you are looking for the perfect place for a cute photo op, some fresh kettle corn and apple cider than this is the spot for you.
Podcast: Full Body Chills
This each episode of this podcast is its own stand alone scary story but if you listen to the entire season (there are two) you can see the underlying threads that connect some of the stories together. Spooky continuity, I love it!
TV Show: The Haunting of Bly Manor
Creepy kids, an old mansion, ghosts and black women slaying 80s fashion! I STAN! This second season of Netflix Hauntings anthology series is amazing. Tania Miller and Tahirah Sharif both give hauntingly excellent performances but their costumes alone are enough for me to watch.
Book: An Unkindness of Ghosts
If you are a fan of Science Fiction Futuristic Dystopian novels (think Octavia Bulter) then this one is for you!
Beauty: Eye Tint
When the pandemic initially started and I was called back into work (see my post for working in the office during COVID-19), I was determined to do a full face of make under my mask. It made me feel more normal and was a part of my getting ready for work routine. As time moves own however I have adopted a new “normal” routine, part of that is only doing my brows and lashes. Now i have incorporated Eye Tints like this Armani Beauty one into my routine. This tint gives my eyes a little razzle dazzle with little to no effort. Just swipe on and dab with a fingertip to blend.
