OGO Halloween Watch Party

H-A-double L- O- W- double E-N Halloween! This is my FAVORITE time of year! Yes two sentences with exclamation points because I LOVE HALLOWEEN (insert Oprah yelling meme). Too kick of the season this year I planned a perfectly splendid Hocus Pocus watch party. Hocus Pocus is a holiday favorite of mines that I watch ad nauseam through the month of October so why not bring my friends and family in on the action. See the details below so you to can plan your own OGO watch party.

Decorations

I had a $50 budget for decor and was able to get everything that I needed… under budget! Everything I purchased was less than $10 and the majority of items came from The Dollar Store. I also shopped at Five Below and Target.

I created the center piece for my table with skulls, spiders and spooky purple faux flowers and the Happy Halloween candy bucket all from the The Dollar Store- talk about a major score!

Food and Drinks

We played drinking games (see below) so I wanted to have a signature cocktail. I chose this particular drink because it was boozy, simple and could be prepared in advance. Right before the party I added ice to the pitcher and poured it over the spooky spider ice to serve. I also provided lite bites because I know better than to drink on an empty stomach! I made two quick charcuterie boards one with fruits, veggies, and dips; and another with meats, cheeses, and crackers. To keep from breaking the bank on food and drinks I went to two of my favorite grocery stores Aldi’s and Trader Joe’s. To round everything out I had the candy bucket for guests to “trick or treat” from and mulled wine as end of party nightcap. Again, this didn’t break the bank and I spent less than $60 (not including some of the alcohol that I already had on my personal bar). FYI Aldi’s in DC has wine for the low, if you didn’t know well now you know!

We started the festivities with a little movie trivia. On Etsy I found a great list of Hocus Pocus Trivia questions that stumped even a super fan like me. The prize for the winner was this extremely comfy and cute Hocus Pocus Sweatshirt. Also, what’s a good watch party without drinking games? I copied this Hocus Pocus specific drinking game from a super cute blog that I just discovered called Best Day of the Week, but like a good NC A&T Aggie I added an extra twist to the game to insure I didn’t have any leftover cocktails.

I would call the night a major success and I plan on doing another Holiday watch party in December. Drop me a note in the comments on what movie you think I should do or if you have any plans on doing your own watch party!
