Favorite Fitness Classes in DC

Have you ever tired a new fitness class? If so, you know how intimidating it can be being newbie. Through my fitness journey I have taken ALL types of classes. From Crossfit to Orange Theory, CorePower Yoga and Solid Core, the list goes on. If there is a new fitness class to try, oh, this odd gurl in there. So, take my word, all three of these DC based fitness classes are great for beginners because the coaches are welcoming and modify the workouts for all fitness levels!

Competitive by Nature (CBN)

Competitive by Nature was founded by three A&T Alumni (can I get an AGGIE PRIDE) Eugene, Jamil, and Randall. CBN promotes fitness in the community not only with its weekly workouts, but also through fundraising and social events.  Over the summer the fitness trio hosted a CBN Family Reunion cookout with eats, music and fellowship and most recently they held a Field Day reminiscent of everyone’s elementary school days. At all CBN’s workouts you are guaranteed to work up a good sweat and definitely make some new friends in the process!

You can find information on all CBN’s workouts at www.cbnculture.com as well as on Instagram.

Kettlebell Chicks

Ana Browne of Anabell Fitness LLC.  is a veteran in the game. I started attending her classes over 3 years ago and she has glowed up over that time from working for another studio to branching out on her own. What I love about her classes  (aside from getting an amazing HIIT workout) is that she greets all new class members by name! The whole class vibe is inviting to new comers and she encourages everyone to go at your own pace, so it’s great for all fitness levels.

You can find information on all Ana’s classes at www.anabellsfitness.com and register via the Mindbody smart phone app. Also you can check her out on Instagram.

Off Road- Build50 Class

Off Road is a great neighborhood (Capital Hill and U St) fitness studio that offers Spin (Bike), Boxing, and HIIT (Build) classes. They have an amazing team of coaches but I want to highlight one in particular.  Coach Kemi teaches both Box and Build classes but her Build class in particular I guarantee will get you in shape. She will encourage you to “embrace the suck”and holds everyone in the class accountable.

You can find additional information on Kemi and Off Road’s classes at www.offroaddc.com and register via the Mindbody smart phone app. You can also check them out on Instagram.
